The Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, originally constructed in 1923, is a world-famous theater registered as a State of California historical landmark. In 2013, AE Group Mechanical Engineers, working with KBZ Architects, designed new HVAC and plumbing systems as part of a major modernization project. We added air conditioning with minimal visual impact to the exterior and interior appearances. We met the challenge of determining unobtrusive locations for the large new mechanical equipment and ductwork, while maintaining the space’s acoustics, with intensive coordination amongst the design team. AE Group has also completed a theater project at Ventura College and performed engineering for the heating boiler system at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center.
